PROCEDURAL SHADOW THEATRE

01 / Creature

3D orbit

Enable orbit view

Rotate around the group’s vertical centre axis. Speed is degrees per second; negative values reverse direction. Set speed to zero for a fixed view. Depth gives the arms spacing towards and away from the camera.

02 / Sheet & light

BackgroundTentacles

Choose the sheet and tentacle colours. Warmth, lighting and texture affect their final appearance.

03 / Audio source (optional)

Live audio input

Choose a built-in microphone, USB interface or another available input. Live inputs drive the visuals without playing back through the speakers.

Input level: stopped

The creature moves on its own. Enable audio reactivity in section 04, then choose a file or live input.

04 / Audio response

Enable audio reactivity

Curl, movement amount and movement speed have separate audio controls. Scale, thickness, mask and lighting are never driven by audio. Live inputs are analysed without speaker monitoring. Use Stop input to release a microphone.

Run Start Tentacle NDI.command from this app’s folder, then open http://127.0.0.1:8765 in Chrome. Keep the helper running while sending. Open NDI app

Video only, including corner pin alignment. Editing handles and desktop content are excluded. Receivers on your network can select the named NDI source. Keep this Chrome window visible for smooth output. Spout is Windows-only.

Corner pin alignment

Enable corner pinning Drag corners on output display

Show handles here or press P in the output window. Drag a corner; use arrow keys for fine adjustments. Click Done or press P again to hide handles.

Positions are percentages of the output display: X goes left to right, Y goes top to bottom. Applies to the separate output window, including fullscreen. Keep the four corners in order without crossing. Save settings to keep this alignment.

Detect displays, select one, open the output, then choose Fullscreen output. Your controls stay here.

06 / Circular output mask

Enable circular mask

Mask blur softens the circular edge; zero keeps it sharp. Beyond the fade stays black. Size is relative to the shorter edge. Position moves the circle; Drift adds gentle motion. Shown in the preview, fullscreen, PNGs and output window.

07 / Vintage lens

Chromatic aberration separates coloured shadow edges. Film grain adds moving texture; Grain size sets its coarseness. Both amounts at zero give a clean image. The mask stays solid black outside.
